In my books, I talk about what I call our "Original Embryological Potential," referring to the incredible potential the embryo displays in developing from a single-celled organism as zygote into these complex bodies that we all have. This potential includes our essential fluidity and its qualities of flexibility, creativity, and resilience that we can tap into any time. It includes our human potential for being relational. It includes what in Craniosacral Biodynamics, as inspired by Cranial Osteopathy, we refer to as “Health with a capital H” and “Intelligence with a capital I.” These are terms from the father of Cranial Osteopathy, William Sutherland. My dear mentor, Emilie Conrad, who founded the somatic mindfulness practice of Continuum and developed it for almost 50 years, referred to our “bio-intelligence.”
Embryos exhibit these qualities in abundance and we can learn from them. Our Original Embryological Potential may be occluded by its wise choices about how to survive in the face of challenging conditions, but it remains available to us to recover throughout life. We can shine the light of awareness of this potential hidden in shadow, and begin to be reunited with it.
My colleague, Dr. Stephanie Mines of The Tara Approach, has developed a similar term, which she calls “Original Brilliance.” We had an extended discussion comparing the two, which you can view on YouTube.
On the first day of our five-day Trailblazer to preview our upcoming three-day Mother of Medicine summit November 7th - 9th, I was honoured to receive the first ever Original Brilliance award, in response to my most recent book, The Prenatal Shadow.
A week later, I am still feeling deeply touched by this gesture. I appreciate this work being seen and recognised as important. Perhaps our prenatal and birth experience is starting to emerge from the shadows! Thank you Stephanie Mines for all your support and hard work in this endeavour.
By propagating Original Brilliance, which is everyone's birthright, we make it contagious!
Wonderful! So well deserved, Cherionna. Congratulations. Love to you and Franklyn. 🌟🧡
